Accident claims life of employee at Weyerhaeuser facility

AYDEN, North Carolina – A Weyerhaeuser employee was killed Monday morning after a forklift reportedly overturned at a facility in Pitt County.

As a result of the fatality, the mill, which employs 184 workers, was shut down indefinitely, various news sources reported.

The company issued a statement that read, “We have lost a valuable member of our Weyerhaeuser team and we extend our thoughts and prayers to his family.”

Weyerhaeuser did not release the name of the 54-year-old employee, but said he had worked for the company for seven-plus years.
