Are bar codes obsolete?

In my column last week, we posed, “Please give us your free form thoughts about Amazon Flow. You can relate them to the paper industry or not, your choice."

The top response was:

> Any such product recognition system will lend itself to product fraud and brand impingement. General acceptance of the software will require significant protection against such misrepresentation. Remember that it took nearly 30 years before bar code technology became mainstream.

Want to get a jump on the surveys? Follow me on twitter, where they are posted early. You can do this here. (note: all respondents are confidential; the software is programmed in such a way that neither we nor anyone else can determine who responded)
