Candid

Last week we asked the following in our weekly quiz:

"Most people have a fear of being genuinely candid.  If you do, what do you think is the reason?"  The narrative answers included:

The pitbulls in charge tend to take their own counsel

Need to avoid "abrasive" impact on customers

Not so much fear of dismissal but lost opportunity for advancement

I do not want to put others in a bad light for their lack of knowledge

I find it hard to be candid with people who talk over me - who don't want to hear what I have to say, or who refute me immediately without thought. I have been fired for being candid.

I have been fired a few times in my career from being candid and expressing an opinion which my superior disagreed with. Even with that I have remained candid but have toned it down some.

Being out of step with the conventional thinking of the plant

I am candid

Need to convince them of the proper way

Candidness is misinterpreted as being negative

I feel bad when I think I've hurt someone's feelings
