Capital assets or people: Which is more important?

In my column last week, we asked "Which do you think are more important?"

"People" was the unanimous answer. No one chose "Capital assets."

Next, we asked "Which portion of the budget do you think is more important?"

"Operating Budget" was the top response with 77.8 percent, with "Capital Budget" getting 22.2 percent.

After that, we asked, "If you could choose only one of the following which would you choose?"

77.8 chose "Capital for Process Control Improvements," while 22.2 chose "Capital for Equipment Improvements."

Finally, we asked, "If you had to choose from only one of the three following people to operate a facility, which would you choose?"

There was an even split between "A recently honorably discharged Marine sergeant" and "A successful manager of a fast food restaurant with five years' experience," followed by "A process engineer from a top pulp and paper school with five years' experience but no management experience."

Take this week's quiz here.

Jim goes over the Quiz results during the Tech Center Show on Pulp & Paper Radio International every Monday.
