Givers and takers

In my column last week, we asked, “Are you a giver or taker?"

Folks, it's unanimous, 100 percent of respondents answered "givers."

We then asked, "As a manager, what do you think about dividing your subordinates into givers and takers?"

> That's a pretty good concept. A large part of our hiring decision is based on the attitude of the prospective employee.

> Neat idea!

> Amateur behavioral and psychological analyses are fraught with peril. Once a misjudgement is made on these bases, management and mentoring can become problematic.
