Graphic Packaging plans new facility

MONROE, Louisiana (From The News-Star) -- Graphic Packaging is planning a significant investment in a state-of-the-art carton folding facility, according to company officials.

Sue Appleyard, Graphic Packaging senior manager of corporate communications, said the corporation has announced the plans to employees in West Monroe.

The timing to break ground has not yet been finalized, Appleyard said.

Graphic Packaging is working with local officials to finalize aspects of the project, including location, but Appleyard said Monroe is a top contender

"We have not had discussions with Graphic Packaging leadership," Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo said. "However, within the next few days, we look forward to having the opportunity to discuss the possibility of what appears to be a great economic development project."
