COLUMBUS, Ohio (From WCMH) - Investigators with the Columbus Division of Fire say they have identified the origin of a four-alarm blaze at a WestRock facility, but not the exact cause.

The fire broke out at WestRock Recycling on August 12 shortly after 4 p.m. Columbus Fire said in a press release that the huge fire started as a small burn on top of one of the piles of recycling.

"Dry weather and a scorching sun made the piles more susceptible to igniting easily, and with the addition of brisk winds from the south, it did not take long for the fire to spread to other piles of materials being stored on the property," CFD said in a media release.

The fire was declared extinguished and firefighters had picked up their hose and equipment and returned control of the property to the occupants by 6 p.m. Sunday, August 14. The estimated cost of damage is $600,000.
