Responses to Baxter

We asked, "What jobs do you think Baxter could do in your mill?"

Top Answers:

>Third hand for heavy jobs like positioning plate steel, a valve or a heavy pipe for cutting and welding. Moving heavy parts that require careful and precise positioning rather than using a forklift, chain hoist, etc. that require a person to be in a dangerous place to the fine adjustments.

>I remember doing cylinder temperatures, no kit and lots of drinks. Now its water cooled suits, when it is done at all. Good application for robotics (when they can take the heat)

Then we asked, "Have you considered using Roombas or similar robots for cleaing in control rooms or labs?

Top Answers:

>As a consultant, I see the opportunity for this often. Larger size units could clean up dust in the screen room, chip storage and other areas. Anywhere sweeping and using an air lance to blow dust that could be eliminated would be safer.

>Plenty of people who should take care of their own environment.
