I am careful to choose my words wisely, and am known for not sugar coating my communications

Mainly on the defense, rarely on the offense

Your column reminds me of an old poster I saw when in college:

"I know you believe you understand what you think I said.  However, I am not sure you realize that what you heard was not what I meant."
