The 1%ers

Last week, we asked:

Twenty years ago, we could not foresee that newsprint and P & W grades would decline.  Do you think there is a danger to the viability of  Bathroom Tissue and Corrugated Containers in the next twenty years?

67% YES

33% NO

Comments:

For bathroom tissue, the threat is technology in advanced parts of the world. High Tech Bidets or something related to how astronauts take care of business up in space...especially if some environmental claim or improvement over tissue is "found". We already see the requirements for less packaging. I believe more products will simply develop more direct use packaging rather than a package in a package...such as tooth paste tubes. My wife already asks why we need a paper box around a self contained package.

When the economy improves and BR's are upgraded tissue in the BR can be replaced with new plumbing--the preference in some countries now. Corrugated not as much --but certainly innovation needs to be considered.--since I'm 80, the comment about asking the kids is appropriate!!

How can you compare TP & CC? I don't see the computer replacing TP but other products will replace corrugated.
