Worker dies from fall at Rayonier AM Jesup facility

JESUP, Georgia (From news reports) -- A man died Sunday from a fall at the Rayonier Advanced Materials facility in Wayne County, according to authorities.

Rayonier AM identified the victim as Willie Roberts in a news release.

Wayne County Chief of Emergency Medical Services Richard Johnson said emergency medical personnel were dispatched to provide aid to a man who fell from a platform around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Johnson said the man succumbed to his injuries.

In the news release, Rayonier AM praised Roberts.

"We are heartbroken by the loss of one of own, Willie Roberts," Rayonier Advanced Materials' Jesup Plant General Manager Clay Bethea said. "A wll-loved employee of 41 years, Willie's loss will be deeply felt by his friends, family and coworkers. We have shared our sympathies with Willie's family and offered our ongoing support during this terrible time of grief. We are also coordinating with proper officials to determine what happened. At this year phase, there is not additional information to report.
