2 injured crossing road at Graphic Packaging facility

LOUISIANA (From news reports) -- Two men were hit by a car Wednesday night while crossing Louisiana 34 outside Graphic Packaging.

The men who were injured are believed to have been contractors for a company working for Graphic Packaging.

Police say a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Christopher Duchesne of Dubach hit Timothy Leverette, 41, of West Monroe, and Andrew Shoemaker, 38, of West Monroe.

State police spokesman Michael Reichart said both were taken to local hospitals, but one was later flown by a helicopter to a second hospital.

Neither had life-threatening injuries, Reichardt said.

There was a second vehicle involved in the accident, although police say the role it played in the accident was unclear. The second vehicle was driven by Judy Vallez-Harper, 45, of West Monroe.
Pedestrians in a cross-walk have the right of way. Duchesne was charged with hitting the pedestrians while in the crosswalk and having a child unrestrained in the vehicle.
