CALIFORNIA (From news reports) -- A fire was reported Sunday morning at the Procter & Gamble plant in Oxnard, resulting in apparent smoke inhalation for two workers who were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The fire was reported around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 23 at the paper products facility at 800 N. Rice Ave., according to a fire dispatch log. A significant amount of surface material burned at the facility, such as product waste and ductwork, Battalion Chief Scott Herring of the Oxnard Fire Department said Sunday. Firefighters put out the blaze before 11:30 a.m. although a fire department investigator remained on scene Sunday afternoon, he said. Herring said the cause is still under investigation. He did not have a financial estimate of the damage or know to what extent the plant's operations were disrupted. No one had to be evacuated from the plant, he said. The Oxnard Fire Department responded to the blaze with the assistance of the Ventura County Fire Department and the Gold Coast ambulance service.
