Appvion site torn down after more than a century

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (From news reports) -- A papermill in Blair County is being torn down after the facility has been in use for 117 years.

Roaring Spring is officially saying goodbye to the Appvion papermill which closed in 2021. 300 people lost their jobs when it closed. Being founded in 1866, the papermill was part of the community being one of the largest employers in the area.

The Roaring Spring Borough Council heard a proposal in February 2023 for potential projects once the site is clear. However, a decision hasn't been made for the site so far.
