Bemis makes capital investment in Centerville, Iowa facility

CENTERVILLE, Iowa -- Bemis has announced plans to invest $8 million in equipment upgrades at their plant in Centerville, Iowa. Beginning at the end of 2016, work will begin to install a new 10-color press that will improve capacity and efficiency for both customers and employees.

Bemis purchased the Centerville plant in 2000. Bemis is one of the three largest employers in Centerville, and 250 persons are employed in administrative and manufacturing roles. The focus of the 300,000 square foot plant is the production of shrink bag packaging for the meat, poultry and cheese industries. Customers include Tyson, Smithfield, Maple Leaf and Hormel.

"The decision to make an $8 million investment in Centerville was based, in large part, on the successful performance of this plant and its employees throughout 2015," said plant manager John Augustiniak. "We believe in the Centerville team and want to celebrate their hard work and dedication to a job well done. This state-of-the-art press will further help Centerville to achieve production goals and enable continuous improvement."
