Crew responds to 'fire on top of a tank' at International Paper facility
HENDERSON, Ky. (From news reports)-- The Henderson Fire Department battled a fire at International Paper Wednesday afternoon.

Several fire trucks responded to the business around noon due to "a fire on top of a tank," officials said.

The fire was caused by "cardboard pulp/paper dust burning from a welding operation that was taking place," HFD said.

Fire department officials described the fire as tough to put out because it was in a difficult spot to reach. Additionally, the burning material was likened to mulch, which is prone to deep-seated fire that can smolder for hours.

Wednesday's windy conditions also presented a challenge to firefighters, officials said.
