EPIQ Machinery expands its global presence with the acquisition of a 50% stake in the FAFECO Group

Montreal (Canada) - EPIQ Machinery, a leader in integrated material handling solutions for the metals & mining, and pulp and paper industries, is proud to announce the strategic acquisition of a 50% stake in FAFECO GROUP, one of India's most respected crane and overhead crane manufacturers.

By this acquisition, EPIQ Machinery strengthens its human capital to reach a skilled workforce of over 900 employees, a third of whom are based in Canada. In addition, the company consolidates its global presence, particularly in India, where it has successfully expanded its operations over the past 12 years through EPIQ ADF in Pune.

Founded in 1971, FAFECO GROUP has extensive expertise in custom-designed cranes with units lifting capacities of up to 500 tons. The company operates three manufacturing facilities in Pune with an annual production capacity of 100 cranes. FAFECO serves a global customer base, exporting to Europe and Asia.

Strengthening EPIQ INDIA with Proven Leadership

Shyam Gurnani will retain a 50% stake in the company. A long-time trusted partner of EPIQ ADF, he will continue to play a key leadership role in the overall management of EPIQ INDIA, which now includes: FAFECO, ADF, STYMER, and NOVIMEQ. The FAFECO team has a deep understanding of the Indian market. Its operational expertise will ensure a seamless integration and continued growth of the company.

Advancing Industrial Digitalization and Automation

EPIQ Machinery is known for its integrated approach to material handling through solutions such as:

  • Gantry cranes, conveyors, and handling/process equipment;
  • Specialized mobile equipment, AGVs, and AMRs;
  • Connected MES/MOM digitalization solutions for plant-wide automation.

By combining FAFECO's strength in specialized crane manufacturing with EPIQ's expertise in robotics and automation, the partnership will foster the next generation of smart, interconnected industrial operations.

The goal is to create highly automated and intelligent material handling solutions that integrate seamlessly with factory digital ecosystems. This acquisition strengthens EPIQ Machinery's ability to provide end-to-end solutions that improve the efficiency, safety, and performance of our customers.
