COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. (From news reports) - An explosion rocked the Weyerhaeuser MDF building early Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, according to Columbia Falls Fire Chief Karl Weeks.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:51 a.m. to find a large explosion had occurred, with fire spreading throughout the east end of the building. Multiple agencies from nearby cities also responded to the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
The scene was cleared by 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. The investigation revealed that the explosion originated in the power distribution room due to a malfunction in one of the high voltage panels, which created an arc.
Chief Weeks estimated that the damages from the explosion are in the millions.
