RAVENNA, Ohio (From news reports) -- An air handler caught fire in the HVAC system of a WestRock facility in Ravenna, Ohio on Monday, but caused no injuries, said Ravenna Fire Department Capt. Ryan Hall.

At approximately 5:16 p.m. employees of the WestRock Co. stepped outside and began to smell smoke, according to Hall. After looking up, they noticed smoke and flames coming off the top of their building.

Flames fully engulfed the air handler, Hall said. The fire was contained to the unit, however. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze and made sure services to the system were shut off.

Of the estimated 50 to 80 people who evacuated the building prior to crews arriving, Hall said all were uninjured. All of them were cleared to go back into the building and continue working.

Aside from the damage caused to the air handler, some equipment in the building also sustained damage from water. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Hall said.
