Fire reported at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Palatka

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. (From news reports) -- The Putnam County Fire Rescue reported a fire at the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Palatka Wednesday night, Oct. 25.

PCFR posted on Facebook around 9 p.m. that it had several units responding to the scene.

The fire was inside of a digester, which is a very large container that converts wood chips into a pulp.

Georgia Pacific is located at 215 County Road 216.

The mill makes paper products such as paper towels, bath tissue, grocery bags and more.
