Georgia-Pacific Names David Neal Executive Vice President of Building Products

ATLANTA (News release) -- Georgia-Pacific announced that David Neal, currently president of gypsum, will become the company's executive vice president of building products, effective early March. In this role, Neal will have responsibility for one of the world's leading building products manufacturers.

Neal will succeed Andy Konieczka, who has decided to retire in early March following a long career with Georgia-Pacific and its parent company, Koch, Inc.

"David has been recognized as a transformative leader at Georgia-Pacific," said Christian Fischer, Georgia-Pacific's president and chief executive officer. "Since joining the organization, he has held several key positions within the Georgia-Pacific gypsum business, all leading to his current role as president. He recently spearheaded a $300 million expansion in Sweetwater, Texas, which catapulted the Georgia-Pacific gypsum business and helped them achieve record profits in 2024. We are confident in his ability to continue driving profitable transformation within the building products business."

Neal holds a bachelor of science degree from Vanderbilt University.

He joined the company in 1997 as a quality resource manager and held positions of increasing responsibility, including plant manager of multiple gypsum plants, regional operations manager, district sales manager, regional operations leader, vice president of gypsum operations and president of the gypsum business.

Beyond his professional achievements, Neal is actively engaged in the metro Atlanta community as a member of Leadership Atlanta, as well as the External Advisory Board for the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech, the High Museum of Art board of directors, and as a regular volunteer for Atlanta Habitat for Humanity.
