IOWA (From news reports) -- Georgia-Pacific announced Tuesday that it would close its corrugated plant on December 31st.
This will mean the loss of 85 jobs.
The company said it will work with the affected employees to support them during the transition with potential opportunities for employment inside and outside the company.
The company also stated that the decision to close the Dubuque plant is not a reflection of their work but rather based on the ability to be competitive at the Dubuque location in the long term.
The Dubuque plant is one of two locations the company has in Iowa, along with a gypsum operation in Fort Dodge.
