Louisiana Pacific plant in Dawson, B.C. faces hefty fine from WorkSafeBC

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. (From news reports) -- A large lumber manufacturing plant in Dawson Creek is facing a hefty fine.

WorkSafeBC has fined Louisiana Pacific Canada Ltd. Dawson Creek OSB Division $316,061.

WorkSafe issued the fine after reviewing the company's lockout procedures. It determined that the protocols in place did not meet safety requirements.

The company failed to ensure that 2 qualified workers were responsible for independently shutting down energy isolating devices.
