Metsä Tissue to build new tissue mill in UK

FINLAND (News release) -- Metsä Tissue is planning to invest in a new tissue mill in the UK. The plan consists of 240,000 tons of tissue paper production capacity, built in several phases during the upcoming decade. The plans are part of the company's Future Mill programme to drive world class environmental performance in tissue production.

The production of the planned UK mill would be based on using sustainable fresh fibre pulp, and the first phase of the investment would be ready during 2025 to serve the professional and consumer tissue markets in the UK and Ireland.

The mill concept is planned to be based on best available technologies, with a world class environmental performance. As the next step, the location of the mill is planned to be selected during the first half of 2022. The locations currently under investigation are Newark and Hull.

Metsä Tissue is the tissue paper business of the forest industry group Metsä Group.
