CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (From news reports) -- Cedar Rapids fire officials are working to determine a cause after flames broke out at an International Paper Co. facility, Sunday afternoon.

Fire officials headed to the scene around 12:20 p.m. after a report of smoke in the paper milling stations. Officials said in a news release they later found flames inside the structure amongst the machinery.

'Fire companies from Cedar Rapids fire made entry into the commercial building and worked with plant personnel to locate the fire," said Battalion Chief Brent Smith. "As crews went to work stretching hose into the structure, establishing water supply and setting up the aerial truck, mutual aid was called for from Ely and Swisher Fire Depts."

Smith said firefighters were able to quickly knock down most of the flames. They next started removing smoldering paper products, which took around three hours to complete.

"Cedar Rapids Fire would like to thank Ely and Swisher fire departments for their assistance today," said Smith. "Along with Salvation army and AAS who provided needed rehab for crews working at the scene."

Smith said the facility would remain open and run normal operations following the fire.

Though the cause has yet to be determined, officials don't believe the fire was intentional.

No injuries were reported.
