Fire at Georgia-Pacific facility

LEXINGTON, Ky. (From WKYT)-- Fire officials responded to a Georgia-Pacific Corporation facility in Lexington after a transformer caught fire on June 29.

According to Lexington Battalion Chief Joe Best, the fire began in an electrical transformer. When employees of the factory noticed the smoke, they began to try to put out the flames until fire officials arrived and put the fire out quickly.

According to a representative with Georgia-Pacific Corporation, there is no structural damage to the building.

Production had been halted for the holiday weekend therefore only minimal employees were inside the facility at the time. We are also told that production is expected to begin normally again after the holiday break.

One employee was treated at the scene with non-serious injuries.

Officials say that the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
