Södra hikes timber prices

Södra raises the prices of the spruce and pine timber purchased by members. Timber prices are now at historically high levels and reflect the market's strong demand.

There is still strong demand on the timber market and the need for timber is estimated to be high in the forest industry during the spring. This is mainly for normal spruce and pine timber. Södra is therefore raising the timber prices for pine and spruce from today, January 19, by SEK 30 per cubic meter.

- It is gratifying that the demand for family forestry's products remains high, albeit with a weaker price picture on the finished goods market. We are constantly working to strengthen the profitability of Södra's members' forest farms, and our timber prices are now at historically high levels. We assess that the high demand will continue during the spring and it is important to maintain a high rate of felling during the winter and spring in order to meet this, says Peter Karlsson, business area manager for Södra Skog.

The following price adjustments apply from 19 January 2023:

  • Standard timber of spruce and pine is increased by SEK 30/m³fub
  • The premium for hardwood fuelwood is included in the basic price. The basic price will be SEK 330/m 3 cubic feet for beech and oak and SEK 300/m 3 cubic feet for fuel wood from other hardwood species.
