Södra supports the Scouts - so that more children can discover the forest and grow through adventure

Södra works actively to promote vibrant rural communities, where most of our operations are located and most members live. In line with this work, Södra will support the Scouts so that more children and young people can experience the forest.

"We see this as an investment in the future. By supporting the Scouts, Södra wants to contribute to a vibrant rural community and positive social development where more children can grow up in a safe and inclusive environment while also enjoying the many values of the forest," said Henrik Andersson, Director of Members at Södra.

The Scout Movement is a non-profit organisation with around 82,000 members and 1,000 troops across Sweden, creating safe and stimulating environments for young people every day. Through exciting adventures and inclusive activities, the Scouts help children and young people develop their self-esteem, leadership and understanding for democracy and community engagement. An important part of the Scouting experience is to give young people an opportunity to spend time in the forest, where they learn about nature, survival and sustainability.

Support for Scouternas Stödfond
Södra has elected to direct its entire sponsorship to Scouternas Stödfond (Scouting Support Fund), which helps financially vulnerable children and young people take part in scouting activities on equal terms. Through financial and material contributions, the Support Fund removes barriers to participation, such as membership fees, equipment and camp costs.

"We are very happy to be helping more children and young people experience the Scouting community and adventure, and discover the joy of being in our fantastic forests," said Henrik Andersson, Director of Members at Södra.

The Scouts welcome the contribution, which will enable more young people to take part in their activities.

"The number of Scouts in Sweden has increased for the tenth year in a row, and our work to reach a wider group of children and young people will continue. Financial conditions vary from place to place, but our aim is to ensure that there are no barriers to participation, which includes keeping membership fees low and offering financial support through the Scouting Support Fund. We are very grateful to Södra Skogsägarna for their generous contribution to the Scouting Support Fund. It will enable even more children and young people to experience scouting," said Johan Pettersson, Secretary General of Scouterna (the Swedish Scouts).
