Stora Enso is the presenting sponsor of FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway. During the event, which takes place between February 26 and March 9, Stora Enso provides wood-based, renewable and recyclable products to contribute to a more sustainable event. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim is estimated to reach around 150 million viewers worldwide, giving Stora Enso the opportunity to promote its sustainable solutions to a global audience. During the event, Stora Enso will highlight its renewable and recyclable products and solutions across a variety of applications, including wooden structures, catering products, waste bins, paper bags, medal boxes and awards. The installations and prize podiums have been in use since the World Ski Championships in Seefeld, Austria 2019, demonstrating our dedication to circularity. 2025 marks the sixth time Stora Enso has sponsored the World Ski Championships. As in previous years, we will provide medal winners and other athletes with tree seedlings. Replacing traditional bouquets with young trees gives athletes a long-lasting and sustainable symbol of their achievements. It also highlights the importance of the forest for the future and reminds spectators of the significant role sustainability plays in sports. For each seedling awarded to an athlete, another will be planted in Trondheim. Stora Enso will also distribute 10,000 seedlings to visitors, encouraging them to share their seedlings' growth journeys using hashtag RootedInTrondheim2025. 'This initiative reflects Stora Enso's broader purpose, including the commitment to sustainable solutions. Taking home, planting, and caring for one seedling may seem like a small action, but if all 10,000 seedlings we give away grow into mature trees, it would capture CO2 equivalent to the annual emissions of around 1,800 cars,' said Toby Croucher, Chief Sustainability Officer at Stora Enso.
