Sylvamo Partners with ENGIE to Produce Renewable Electricity

MOGI GUACU, Brazil (News release) - Sylvamo, the world's paper company, is partnering with ENGIE, a Brazilian low-carbon energy company, to create renewable electricity at wind farms.

Under the agreement, Sylvamo is investing in ENGIE to develop the Serra do Assurua Wind Complex in Bahia in Northeastern Brazil. Sylvamo will then purchase up to 60% of the electricity needed to power its Mogi Guacu mill from the wind farm.

"This project focuses on creating and using renewable energy, which perfectly aligns with our promise to produce paper in the most responsible and sustainable ways," says Fabiano Rodrigues, supply chain and forestry director at Sylvamo.

The initiative is estimated to reduce Sylvamo's greenhouse gas emissions in Latin America by 5% annually, aligning with the company's 2030 goals.

"We generate renewable energy while maintaining a strong environmental commitment surrounding our operations. We prioritize a close and partnership-oriented relationship with our clients, who have the opportunity to use renewable energy in their businesses and increasingly contribute to the sustainability of the planet," said Gabriel Mann, commercialization director at ENGIE.
