Week of 26 August 2024: Pulp Rats, week 4

Email Jim at jim.thompson@ipulpmedia.com

By Fos, the Rat

Well, I can't believe it, but another month of Pulp Rats is almost over.

It has seemed extra short this year, perhaps because there are only four columns, not five as there are some years.

I would like to wrap up talking about Force Majeure. Mr. Jim tells me he had never seen this claimed until the Covid pandemic came along. Then it became quite prevalent. I don't know what it seems like to humans, but to me it seems like an escape from contract obligations, apparently a legal escape. You be the judge, I guess.

Looking forward to next year, we have a couple of stories in the works already.

First there is the web designer, back in the early days of the internet, who decided to hide some pornography in plain site in the web site he was building for a prestigious company.

Then there is the disappearing airplane that took a couple of lives in an accident that sounds like a John Grisham novel.

All in the pulp and paper industry.

So, if in the next year, you are tempted to commit some nefarious acts, remember the rats are watching you. And we are everywhere, despite the long-term success of d-Con.

Mr. Jim told me to tell you to be safe and he will be back next week.
